The great wonder on the world's response to Israel defending itself

It's been days since Israel actively defended itself from Hamas. And it still makes me wonder how effing hard it seems for the international community that Israel has the right to defend itself against the Gaza-based terrorists.

They even asked Israel to put an end of it.

 Are they seriously crazy? This is a serious question.

Whenever, not when, Israel is hit by any terrorists with bombs, mortars, etc, the world is silent. Every one is too indifferent. It's like they're saying, "It's just Israel. They're used to it. They'll be fine."

But when Israel retaliates (read: just defending itself), the world goes amok and is too quick to find for a word to condemn Israel. Crazy people.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman was right. "Public calls from the international community to refrain from [IDF] ground activity [in Gaza] strengthens Hamas and extends the conflict.”

Haven't they realized that on every corner, Israel is threatened. On 11/11, Israel fired warning shots at Syria. That's up north. And don't forget there's Iran in the east. Yeah, the Hamas in Gaza.

These nations are lucky they are not the target of anti-Semitism.

Imagine.

It's been a week! Weak.

Ano ba? Anong petsa na? It's been a week since I last posted here. Hamas' military chief Jabari was already killed; showers of rockets are already visible in Gaza; there's the threat of Iran; Hamas' Cabinet HQ was already destroyed; and now, Israel has already taken over Hamas' tv.

All these events had already taken place. BUT I haven't posted anything at all? Crap.

Over the Weekend

Mackerel for Dinner

It was last night when we had a feast-like dinner. But my favorite part of it was the "Tambacol." I believe that was the name of the fish in Tagalog. It was so delicious! A simple fried mackerel with soy sauce. PANALO!

Busy Weekend

I only have two words: Very busy.

It was a busy day. Had projects to work on and assignments to finish. My goodness. Where are you vacation? I need you! NOW.

Mackerel and Sardines off season

BFAR 6 announces closed season for sardines and mackerel in the Visayan Sea starting Nov. 15.

Because I still couldn't get over it.

When I read it, I thought, "Oh yeah. It just makes sense." But I also thought that it's just like sports especially Baseball, which is on off season right now.

I decided to check on this Mackerel thingy. According to Britannica.com, a mackerel "is any of a number of swift-moving, streamlined food and sport fishes found in temperate and tropical seas around the world, allied to tunas in the family Scombridae (order Perciformes)."

In Filipino translation, Mackerel has a lot. There's a Tanige, a GG or Galunggong, Tambacol, and even a Japayuki..? With these translations, I realized that Mackerel is my favorite fish! :D

Now I am hungry.

But with this reminder/advisory/whatsoever, does it mean it'll take a while before we'd be able to have GG at home? That's sad.

At least there's processed sardines. My favorite is Spanish sardines.

My doubts on requiring CCTV

Having a CCTV in your establish is of course helpful, if you're only tracking a previous incident. However, I don't believe that it is the main solution to prevent a crime. Criminals in this archipelago are cunning and they can always outwit anyone and anything.

I believe it is more important to strengthen our Police. That first then improve their system/s, gadgets, etc.

Who ever wrote this was correct: The limitations of CCTVs become the strengths of the criminals. As a security device, it does not provide 100% insurance that crimes would be prevented just because a CCTV is present in an establishment.

If we are to pursue any anti-crime bill, we have to improve first what we already have.

More than a US President

Since the US Elections had finally come to an end, we can now relax and carry on with our tasks.

I was looking for a good Mac 'n Cheese recipe when I found a vlog on how to make the dish. But more than that, I also found out that it was Thomas Jefferson, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, who brought this amazing dish  to the United States. According  to Wikipedia, Jefferson commissioned American ambassador to Paris, William Short, to purchase a machine that makes Mac 'n Cheese. 

Thanks to Thomas Jefferson.

The cost of waste management

Isn't it ridiculous how much our government has to spend for our wastes? It's not just ridiculous, it's also annoying. Here's an example of how much it costs a local government to manage wastes: Cebu City garbage disposal costs pegged at P216 M

But can we really blame the government? (Here we go again, pointing fingers.) No. I'd rather blame ourselves. We're so careless, untidy, and irresponsible. Surely, there had been many proposals to make sure our wastes go where they should go.

I remember visiting a relative before. We actually had a week-long vacation in their place. I was looking for a particular colored trash bag/can/whatever to throw my chips' pack away. I think I was supposed to be looking for red. There was none. Fine. I decided to look for something labeled with non-biodegradable. Still the same.

It was annoying.

Making sure that I'd be able to throw my trash away, I asked where's the trash can. I was replied with my aunt pointing to a sack. She said, "Just throw it there." So I approached the sack only to find out all sorts of wastes together. I was obviously disappointed.

Later that day, I saw my cousin throwing the trash-sack in a very unappealing manner. He just dumped it to a heap of wastes.

In order to satisfy my curiosity, I asked him why he threw it there, why they didn't sort their wastes. I was surprised and offended with the answer. "It's unnecessary," I was told.
